DARKLESS

Darkless is an art film created as both a cinematic portrait of photographer Oskar Schlächter and a Kickstarter campaign for his photobook Darkless. The book delves into how light pollution affects wildlife, ecosystems, and human life. Filmed in 2023, I contributed as the editor and handled the color grading for the project.

A Sony FX6 was chosen for its exceptional ability to perform at ISO 12,800, enabling us to vividly capture the nuances of light pollution. This was particularly striking in the studio scene, where the ambient lighting was almost entirely provided by streetlights. This intentional approach to lighting highlights the ever-present and far-reaching influence of light pollution, which is central to the themes explored in both the film and the photobook.
